About Kishti Sen

Dr Kishti Sen is ANZ’s economist for the Pacific where his primary role is to lead ANZ’s Pacific macro-research capabilities for Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Islands. In his current role, Kishti publishes economic outlook reports for the Pacific by country discussing GDP, employment, government finances and country risks. Kishti also writes thought articles on how the Pacific can realise its enormous economic potential. Prior to joining ANZ in February of 2018, Kishti was a Senior Economist at global economics consulting firm BIS Oxford Economics for a decade. As a senior economist, Kishti analysed a wide variety of Australian macroeconomic data, produced forecasts, contributed to the company's highly regarded economic forecasting reports and provided macroeconomic consultancy services to clients across a range of industry sectors. Before then, Kishti was a Senior Economist at the Reserve Bank of Fiji where he built and managed the Bank's research and analytical work programme. In addition, he was a member of high profile policy and forecasting committees including the Macro Policy Committee — the think tank for fiscal policy — and the Monetary Policy Committee which advised the Governor directly on interest-rate settings Kishti is a native of Fiji but now calls Australia home. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Sydney, Graduate Diploma in Banking and Finance from the University of the South Pacific and a Bachelor of Arts degree specialising in economics and mathematics from Massey University.
