The founding managing editor of BlueNotes, Andrew Cornell, is a finalist in the Commentary, Analysis, Opinion and Critique category in the Australian Walkley Awards for Excellence in Journalism, the most prestigious Australian journalism awards.
"At a time when journalism is under... pressure, recognising the best journalism, wherever it is produced, is even more important."
Andrew Cornell, BlueNotes Managing Editor
The nomination recognises three examples of his work, “Good ship Australia”, “Big change is on the horizon” and “Brave new world”, covering the Australian economy, the financial services industry and global book publishing.
The work was published in AFR Magazine and The Australian Financial Review.
“It is a great honour to be acknowledged by peers in the Walkleys,” Cornell said. “At a time when journalism is under extraordinary financial and structural pressure, recognising the best journalism, wherever it is produced, is even more important.”
Cornell has previously won a Walkley in this category for his analysis of Australia’s financial system during the global financial crisis and the impact of the resources boom.
He joined ANZ to launch BlueNotes in December 2013. BlueNotes recently won Brand Site of the Year at the BEfest 2014 Awards.
